The European Commission is preparing for the next multiannual financial framework (MFF), the EU's long-term budget, which will start in 2028. The Commission aims to create a simpler, more focused, and responsive budget that reflects European strategic priorities.
To achieve this, seven public consultations are launched to gather views from interested parties on how to make the most of the EU budget. The consultations will cover various policy areas, including cohesion policy, agriculture, and home affairs, with the goal of creating a more effective and efficient budget that delivers on key objectives. The Commission's proposals are expected to be presented in 2025.

This survey is part of a study conducted by the European Commission with the support of two external contactors (Novaspace and Rand) on the state of access to space in Europe and the European Union. Among the aims of the study is to explore the needs of the companies, institutions and organisations developing, implementing and deploying technologies associated with access to space across all maturity levels, and the capabilities and offering of players providing access to space. The European Commission launched a call for comments on a European strategy for research and technology infrastructures. The call offers the opportunity to help shape the future strategy by commenting on the problems and needs of technology infrastructures already identified at EU level and identifying additional challenges. As set out by President von der Leyen at the AI Action Summit in February 2025 in Paris, this ambitious initiative is set to transform Europe's strong traditional industries and its exceptional talent pool into powerful engines of AI innovation and acceleration. The European Commission has launched two consultations on the future European Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Science: a Call for Evidence, and a targeted questionnaire for researchers and the broader research and innovation community. The strategy will aim at accelerating the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.
Everyone interested can contribute to the Call for Evidence. Researchers and the broader scientific community from all scientific disciplines, are also invited to fill in the targeted questionnaire. Both consultation tools will be open until 5 June 2025. Read more.
The European Research Area (ERA) Dashboard is a component of the ERA Monitoring Mechanism (EMM), which provides a basis for evidence-informed policymaking in the European Research Area. Covering 53 indicators, the report provides a comprehensive overview of the progress made towards achieving the ERA priorities at the level of the European Union Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries. On 17-18 March, 75 representatives from Europe’s key research infrastructures, scientific service providers, national initiatives and the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) EU Node consortia convened in Brussels to initiate the build-up phase of the EOSC Federation.
This meeting marked yet another milestone for the development of EOSC as a pan-European system of systems, providing tangible benefits to its nodes and real added-value services to researchers. Read more.
