YERAC 2024, the 53rd Young European Radio Astronomers Conference, will be held on 3-6 September in Madrid/Spain. It will be organized by the National Astronomical Observatory (OAN-IGN) and the Yebes Observatory (OY-IGN) and take place in the Real Observatorio de Madrid, including a visit to the Yebes Observatory. The participation is open to PhD students [...]
A new image from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration has uncovered strong and organized magnetic fields spiraling from the edge of the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*). Seen in polarized light for the first time, this new view of the monster lurking at the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy has revealed [...]
The 12th IRAM millimeter interferometry school, co-sponsored by ORP, will be held in the week of November 18, 2024 at the IRAM headquarters (Grenoble, France). It is intended for students, post-docs and other scientists who want to acquire a good knowledge of interferometry and data processing techniques at millimeter wavelengths, with a special emphasis on [...]
The second announcement of this traditional conference held biennially by the European VLBI Network - this time in Bonn/DE. The European VLBI Network Symposium is the main forum for discussion of the latest Very Long Baseline Interferometry scientific results and technical and technological developments within the EVN member countries. Traditionally this also involved further communities [...]
With sadness we learnt that Roy Booth passed away on 27.2.2024. Roy Booth, previous Director of Onsala Space Observatory and Board member of RadioNet projects, was a passionate advocate for international cooperation within astronomy and against taking narrow national perspectives. We have lost an important contributor to radio astronomy and a dear friend. Read here [...]

The call for proposal for observing with the INAF telescopes is open. See the call here. INAF participates with the Sardinia Telescope (SRT) in the Transnational Access program of the Opticon Radionet Pilot program (ORP), which is funded by the EC Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement No. 101004719. For observations with [...]
In a series of studies, a team of astronomers has shed new light on the fascinating and complex process of planet formation. The stunning images, captured using the European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope (ESO’s VLT) in Chile, represent one of the largest ever surveys of planet-forming discs. The research brings together observations of more [...]
The IAU Centre for Protection of the Dark and Quiet Sky from Satellite Constellation Interference (CPS) has released the paper Call to Protect the Dark and Quiet Sky from Harmful Interference by Satellite Constallations. This document states its recommendations for the mitigation of satellite constellations´ impact on astronomy. Read more.
ORP is pleased to announce the launch of the new ORP Multi-Facility call for proposals. This call for proposals invites astronomers from diverse fields to submit observation proposals using multiple observatories for the same scientific project. Assistance is available to support the submission of multi-wavelength proposals. This initiative aligns with ORP's commitment to advance collaborative and [...]
