Max Planck Society launches Transatlantic Program

The Max Planck Society has launched its Transatlantic Program to deepen collaboration with leading U.S. research institutions and strengthen opportunities for junior and senior scientists.

Key elements of the program include:

  • Opportunities for PhD candidates and postdocs through International Max Planck Research Schools (IMPRS), Max Planck Schools, graduate centers, and a new central postdoc program.

  • New leadership-track positions via Max Planck Research Groups and Lise Meitner Groups.

  • Open call for directors (1 August – 31 October 2025), inviting applications from outstanding researchers based in the U.S.

  • Max Planck Advanced Investigator positions (6–12 appointments, starting July 2025) for senior researchers aiming to secure major external funding.

  • Up to six new International Max Planck Centers with U.S. partners, fostering long-term, high-profile collaborative research.

This initiative underscores the Society’s commitment to scientific excellence, talent mobility, and global cooperation. Learn more: Max Planck Transatlantic Program
