EHT 2022 observing campaign: Start in March 2022 of world-wide radio telescope network with 11 participating telescopes

The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) is an international collaboration with the goal of directly imaging the immediate environment of a black hole and thus testing Einstein’s theory of general relativity in an extreme environment. Several European research institutes are participating in the observations as part of an international consortium. After the first observing campaigns in 2017, 2018, and 2021, the EHT will start its fourth campaign in March 2022, observing the center of the Milky Way as well as the galaxies Centaurus A, Messier 87, PKS 1510-089, Perseus A, Markarian 501, OJ 287, and 3C 454.3.
