As part of the European Research & Innovation Days in June 2021, the workshop Research infrastructures – hubs of excellence, knowledge creation and innovation was held on June 24, 2021.
Apostolia Karamali (Head of Unit DG R&I), Anton Zensus (RadioNet Coordinator and Director of Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy), Nicolas Pade (Executive Director of European Marine Biological Resource Centre/EMBRC-ERIC), and Anton Ussi (Operations & Finance Director of EATRIS ERIC) explored the practical side of RIs: their impact on science, society, economy, and their more general impact on our lives. Speakers presented their RIs with focus on results and why they are so important to address global challenges.
Awareness on the work of RIs was created, with the objective of supporting new synergies with other sectors in Research and Innovation and industrial actors. The workshop that also touched upon the policy side with the novelties of Horizon Europe on Research and Innovation and, more specifically, on the RI part of the programme, was attended by 241 participants.
