The 3rd ESFRI Stakeholder Forum Meetup was held from 10 to 11 June 2025 in Kraków, Poland, under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU. The event was strategically scheduled just ahead of the 92nd ESFRI Forum Meeting and brought together a wide range of stakeholders from across Europe’s research infrastructure (RI) landscape for in-depth discussions, knowledge exchange, and networking.
Focusing on long-term sustainability, integration, and strategic cooperation, the meetup served as a platform to share ideas and best practices for strengthening Research Infrastructures. Key themes included promoting trust and collaboration among stakeholders, building effective synergies with Technology Infrastructures, and aligning policy frameworks to support an integrated and future-ready R&I ecosystem.
Programme Highlights (available, along with a photo gallery here):
- Elena Hoffert (ESFRI Vice-Chair) outlined the broader context and key challenges related to the sustainability of RIs.
- Serge Fdida (Sorbonne Université, SLICES Coordinator) highlighted the importance of RI-industry collaboration in driving innovation and long-term viability.
- Michael Arentoft (Head of Unit, DG RTD, European Commission) presented the Commission’s perspectives and updates on the European Research and Technology Infrastructures Strategy.
- Allen Weeks (ELI ERIC) shared insights on leveraging multiple funding sources to support research infrastructure sustainability.
The event underscored the growing need for coordinated efforts at both national and European levels to ensure that RIs remain resilient, accessible, and aligned with broader research and innovation goals.
Video recordings, a recap video, and a summary outcomes report will be published shortly.
