The European Council agreed on 21 July 2020 on the next multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027 and on a plan for the new set-up of the European Union.
Representatives of the 27 member states agreed in Brussels on a complete EU budget of 1820 billion EUR, 750 billion of it for the set-up of the „NextGenerationEU“ (NGEU), a new temporary financial instrument for coping with the consequences of COVID-19.
